@broe23 That makes sense but as I said, after I removed it the settings did not reset back to normal leaving me with a lower resolution than it really should be. The only thing that I could think of doing is to change the resolution back to normal in the settings but the slider is at the top...

After connecting my new laptop to the my 30" tv with an HDMI cord and then removing it later, the resolution was messed up. I received a notification bubble saying that my resolution was at the recommended settings. I went to my screen resolution settings and the slider said it was at 1366x768...
