Can't install Windows 8 and don't know why

HI, I can't force setup to install Windows 8 on my prepared partition.
It's 2nd primary nonactive partition on internal HD formatted as NTFS with default cluster, 26GB big.
Everything looks meeting system requirements tho setup refuses to continue.
I get up to the setup type dialog, choose CUSTOM (as I don't want to upgrade from Seven but rather to install as secondary OS), on custom partition chooser I select the desired partition. Clicking on next I get the message complaining that Setup can't install Windows 8 on that partition, and referring to see some log file, which I however don't have an idea where located. I'm already having Wn7 on first partition which installed flawlessly so I don't suppose there's some hw requirements not fulfilled.
Anyone can help to resolve the problem?

My internal HD starting layout is following:
partition 1 (/dev/sda1): Primary Active Bootable NTFS Windows 7 64GB
partition 2 (/dev/sda2): Primary NTFS empty 26GB <=== here I want to install Win8
partition 3 (/dev/sda3): Primary Bootable ext4fs Linux 20GB
....

I have performed a thorough surface test recently which didnot find any surface error on that drive.

In the custom screen try deleting sda2 and have windows 8 recreate it.

It's probably not hard drive space since my final customization of windows 8 takes only 27 gigs.

I already tried delete the partition completely and recreate/reformat using the installator builtin partition utility. No success. Unfortunately I can't make the partition bigger since behind it is TrueCrypt encrypted partition which I can't shring anyway.

Yet there's a possibility to delete sda2 and expand sda1 about 26GB which should be sufficient, then upgrade right from Windows 7 to 8. But as I wrote I'd like to avoid losing Windows 7. I wanted install Windows 8 aside of 7 to test if it's worth replacing my old OS by Windows 8 completely.

If you just want to test it how about a virtual machine? You will get a small performance impact, but you will still be able to test everything.

That's not posible I'm getting to a kind of limitation when trying to install Win8 in VirtualBox, not sure what's wrong (Core2Duo with 4GB should be sufficient for basic Win8 testing)

Having created new VM for Windows 8 the wizard turns PAE/NIX on by default.
I get the error scree above with PAE/NIX. Without it I get another error screen which I cant get past

Someone however reported successful install as upgrade out of existing Windows 7 clean install. Going to give it a try when I get some spare time.

LOL! At least you got the blue screen upgraded from black one:think:

Make sure in Vbox you will find PAE / NX system and choose processor. Also, you have to go to Display from your Vbox and needs to check or tick 2D and 3D option in Video tab without fail.

Hi there
Problem is I think Win 8 wants to be the ACTIVE partition -- and not sure what your Linux Bootloader does. Win 8 will create a small system partition ==Win 7 does the same unless the entire disk is formatted as one partition BEFORE you start the installation process.

Try setting the Win 7 partition as INACTIVE before starting the Win 8 Install.

Not sure how the system reacts with dual / triple booting W7/Win8/Linux.

Cheers
