Dual boot on Samsung Series 5 ultrabook with SSD/HDD hybrid HDD

I am having difficulty installing Win 8 RP in dual boot with Win 7 on my Samsung Series 5 ultrabook. In the past, I haven't had any complications with installs on other systems. I followed the instructions to the T using a USB drive. The laptop boots to the Windows 8 installation screen, goes through the usual processes and then reboots. However, instead of rebooting and continuing the install, it returns to the beginning of the installation process. Other times, it just boots right back into Windows 7.
I don't know if the hybrid HDD has anything to do with it. It's supposed to help with a faster boot process through a cache on the SSD. Does it overlook the Windows 8 installation when it reboots?

Hello Scurcio, and welcome to Eight Forums.

It sounds like you set your BIOS to always boot from the USB first in the priority order. Normally you would need to have the HDD set to be the first device in the BIOS boot priority order, and only select to enter the boot menu at startup to select to boot from the USB temporarily for just that one time. This way it'll boot from the USB, then the HDD when the computer restarts.

Since you already started the installation, set your BIOS to have the HDD to be 1st in the boot priority, then restart the computer with the USB still connected. Hopefully, it'll pick up where the installation setup left off and continue.

    Hope this helps,

    Thanks for your quick reply.

Let me see if I follow you. I set the the BIOS to boot from the USB when I begin the installation. I then set it back to boot from the HDD. When do I set the BIOS to boot from the HDD again? During the reboot process to finish the install?

Try setting BIOS to boot from the HDD for now, and restart with the USB still connected to see if the installation may pickup where it left off.

If not, then leave the BIOS set to boot from the HDD, but press whatever F key the boot screen says to press to enter the "Boot Menu". The boot menu is not the same settings as in the BIOS. The BIOS will always boot to the selected drive at boot, while the boot menu will only boot to the selected drive for just that one time, and defer to what you have set in BIOS afterwards. In the boot menu you would select to boot from the USB, and start over with the installation.

    Same problem here.
I've tried to do what Brink says, but there's no message telling which key opens the Boot Menu. I also tried to press the Backspace, Esc, Tab and F... keys, but it's been useless.
    Any idea?
