windows 8.1 activate problem

i bought hp laptop last year it is came with windows 8.1 installed, few days back my windows got corrupted and i tried to reset but not worked, so i did a clean windows installation. i deleted my recovery drive also the problem is i installed windows 8 pro, now windows keep saying activate your windows. and also it show current product key....CRYQH

@@ if i reinstalled correct virsion of windows (windows 8.1) it will pick the product key from BIOS?

Windows 8/8.1 has available "generic keys" that will let you install Windows 8/8.1, but not activate.

Does that mean you did not have Pro before? If so it will never activate with the key you have. You need to download the same version you had, see here:
