Using Win 8.1 Pro

I have been using Clonezilla on a bootable USB, to clone my HD.

I have heard that Windows can make an ISO of the current system, and programs installed . . .

and you can put that on a flash drive, making it bootable, using Rufus . . .
. . . Rufus - Create bootable USB drives the easy way . . . https://rufus.akeo.ie/

so if something happens to the HD, just put in another HD of the same size or larger, and restore your OS to it . . .

Any idea where it explains how to do this?

All I see in Control Panel is "File History" backup, and I don't think that does the whole OS, just Libraries, and files that are there, which is an organizational system that I do not use.

W-8/8.1 Does Not have a built-in tool that is really functional for what you want to accomplish. I suggest you check out the Free Version of Macrium Reflect. Macrium has recently released V-6. Macrium also has a paid version which contains some additional features but it is a little pricey unless you can get a discount. Macrium is widely used with excellent reviews. There are other solutions both Free and Paid but but Macrium ranks with the very best.

recimg will make a customrefresh.wim to be used as a refresh Image

But the use of it as a Reset Image is a process to create

It is best to use Macruim and make a system Image along with a Macrium Bootable Recovery disk

It is not an iso, but you can create a system image with wbadmin.
And yes, it would contain all of your installed programs and can be restore even on bare metal.
If you need details on how to do it, please let me know.
