Domain to domain transfer using Windows 8.1 file transfer

I am changing domains on a Windows 8.1 machine and Windows File Transfer only allows you to import a file not create one. I don't want to add programs to the server or the Windows 8 if I can avoid it. Any suggestions?

Can you be a bit more explicit. What exactly are you trying to do? Why do you need to copy anything anywhere?

The more info you provide the better chance someone will be able to help.

We are replacing the server and changing the domain name. So I have to remove the computer from one domain down to a workgroup and then back to the new domain. I don't want to loose any of the data on the computer. I used windows transfer for all the other computers but you can't do that on Windows 8.1

That's out of my area that I can help. Never dia ny domain work. Hopefully one the network gurus will stop by and help out.

One more question though. Is the profile on the server and that is what you need to move or is it data on the client computer?

It would be a lot easier if they kept their documents on the server but it is all local.
Thanks for looking though.

Then what are you having to move? Sorry, but I don't understand. Sounds like you just need to change from Domain to Workgroup then back to Domain. Should not be any file movement involved as far as I can see.

Maybe if you explain exactly what you need to do ????

It has been removing user profiles when I drop down to workgroup. So I think I will just move the profile to the server and then back again. I think that should work for me.

Well I used transwiz which backs up the user profile just like windows easy transfer except only on profile at a time. I only needed one so it worked. Thanks for your responses.

Hi
I would like to know how SIDCHG will work on windows 8.1 Enterprise in both versions. where can i found that.

SIDCHG does not appear to be part of Windows. It's a 3rd party download. I'd say check with the publisher/author of the program.

One web site has this:

SIDCHG - SID changer utility
Overview
SIDCHG (SIDCHG64 on 64-bit Windows) 2.0a is a command-line utility to modify local computer SID and computer name, for Windows 8.1/2012 R2/8/2012/7/2008 R2/2008/Vista/2003/XP. It replaces current computer SID with new random SID. In addition, it changes the WSUS ID for Windows Updates, the Windows 8+ Device Identifier for Metro apps, and the encryption state to preserve encrypted files, Windows Action Center settings, Certificates and other
