I have a ASUS HDMI monitor which works perfectly via the VGA connection to my ACER laptop (windows7). Now I want it to connect to my DELL laptop (Windows8) but there is no VGA connection so instead I am using a DVI digital cable. I have pressed the F8 button on the DELL which gives me the monitor options and I have chosen Duplicate Screen (tried others too), my laptop screen goes blank and then after 10 seconds returns to normal. When I check the ASUS monitor and press the connection button is still says no DVI connection. I know the DVI cable works as I have no issues connecting this laptop using this cable to the TV.
So how can I get the monitor to recognise the laptop?
