UEFI option instead of Bios boot

I don't have the option in windows to boot back into the UEFI setup. In my motherboard bios setup there is an option which allows for the selection of UEFI, Legacy and UEFI or Legacy, When I change this to UEFI my pc wont' boot and the error message is that no UEFI partition was found.

I think it may have been deleted when I installed Windows 8.1 initially because i had to convert from MBR to GPT. Or so i read on one of the forums.

Is it possible to restore my UEFI partition so that I can use windows to enter the bios setup. I've had the boot on ultra fast and it took me a week to get into the bios without using the delete key. I had to use Gigabyte utilities which include drivers that crash windows. So i want to remove them again ASAP.

Any help appreciated.

Well to get back into UEFI mode you will have to reinstall in UEFI mode there is no other way, Sounds like some how your OS got converted to MBR so It may not boot either MBR or UEFI but you can't convert back to UEFI you have to Reinstall. If you have data on that disk you need to recover you can pull the drive and hook it up USB to another computer and recover your Data.

Yeah I can do that as its a new machine and only runs Media Portal.
However, when I changed my motherboard setting and it didn't recognize my hardrive I inserted my USB boot drive which is the one I used to install Windows onto the PC (no optical drives).
It received the same error I.e. no UEFI boot partition found.

From my readings it would appear the the install device passes its UEFI properties on to the install.
So I thought I would again be installing Windows without UEFI boot loader option.
Is this true and how to I fix this first.
I don't want to waste my time installing if the results is no UEFI boot loader again.

I also made this same mistake when I did a clean install, as I did not receive the option to use UEFI, GPT and used the MBR. It was the only way that I could get it to work, and it DID work, but it took days to figure out, and I ended up with a bunch of drives, and my CD/DVD Rom drive became Drive:/E (which is where I 'guess' I used a Sandisk Cruzer USB to reinstall and chose to re-boot from that drive by mistake). Now I have 8 drives, in which five are recovery paritions and are all empty and corrupted I guess.

I just made another USB with a clean Win 8.1 install and was able to use Rufus, UEFI/GPT. When I go to install it on my laptop, what boot option do you suggest I use? My choices are odd. I will post them as soon as I boot into F12 mode .....

Insure you downloaded a 64 bit version of Windows 8.1 32 bit does not support UEFI

To install UEFI you must boot you USB media UEFI. One of the F keys on your notebook will bring up a boot menu, Mine is Esc, some are F11, F8, Find out which one is for your notebook. Boot menu will shoe USB( Legacy)and UEFI USB select the UEFI USB to install UEFI. That is how UEFI is determined. If you get a rejection then on the next attempt of install once you put in language hit the F10 key that will bring up a CMD Window type
diskpart
List disk
select disk
clean
exit and continue with your install UEFI

You should only have the disk you are installing to installed in the computer while you are installing Windows!

another trick to force booting into UEFI mode is to rename the "Bootmgr" file to "bootmgr.old"

this will prevent your setup media from booting into legacy mode.

I have successfully managed to perform a clean, fresh install on the laptop. I'm now at the express or custom settings and don't know which way to go.
I've searched the forums, quickly, and don't seem to see anything specific about which ones to choose for best security.

Update PC/Apps: Automatically get device drivers, apps and info for devices? On/Off
Automatically Update my Apps? On/Off
Help Protect PC and Privacy:
use Smartscreen Online ... On/Off?
Send a Do Not Track Request... On/Off?
Check Online for solutions:
Use Windows Error Reporting to check for solutions...On/Off?
Use compatability lists for IE to help improve... On/Off?
help improve Microsoft products/services:

Send Microsoft info about how I use Help....On/off?

Let apps use my advertising ID for experience across apps? On/Off?
Let windows and apps request my location from the Windows Location Platform. On/off?
Get better protection from malware by sending info and files to Microsoft Active Protection Service when Windows Defender is turned on..On/Off?

And then as far as account. Should I use just a Local Account or a Microsoft Account? I would rather have a local, as I had all the problems with the microsoft.....

Well if you want the default installation, the go for the express, If you want to have some control you'll want to use the custom install. Goggle any settings you don't understand. I personally installed and use Classic Shell and have all the metro stuff hot corners etc turned off and my desktop pretty much is the same as it was in window 7. That's a personal choice.
Your last question yes I only use a local account. I just don't trust cloud stuff and don't really use it.

Okay, I chose the locall account. I set up Bitlocker on my USB sticks I use for backup. NOW, I was connected to the internet for maybe ten minutes total. As i was using Bitlocker on the USB, my computer kind of flashed on/off (not actually off, but just flashed), and I took a peek in my folders and now have folders from 2012, 2013, and 2014. I also noticed 'One Note' installed. ...This was on computer prior to reinstall but I haven't downloaded or installed ANY thing. I took a look at the firewall properties and I see this BranchCache Conent Retrieval, HostedCache Client, etc, among all the 'Remote' allows and quickly deleted them. I'm not very good at understanding the Firewall Properties and I don't like anything that is remote. I also have Sonic VPN, and Juniper Pulse VPN in the firewall properties. Are these normal? Have I already been compromised? I will be so mad if so. I am installing Norton360, but scared to death to connect to internet long enough to do so. .....What do you think?

Well yea go ahead and get the AV IS program working for you. Its not likely you are hacked already don't know you personal circumstances but you need the AV and IS. I can't help with 360 and I use the NIS business just because I'm used to it. You might wan to install Malware bytes too it work good with Norton. Anyway Norton will take over all security for you computer and it easy to see and configure
