    Windows 8.1 consumer 64 bit

I don't know about game play, but in a little over a month you will be able to upgrade to Windows 10 for free. I would wait. Here is some info from MS:

I too would wait for Win 10, if the Get Windows 10 app shows it as compatible.

However, unless you are going to upgrade (or can upgrade) the memory to more than 4GB there is no compelling reason to have a 64 bit OS. The main reason for a 64 bit OS is to address and use more than 4GB of RAM. In addition, the 64 bit OS requires more memory than a 32 bit thus leaving you less available memory for programs.

If it doesn't work on 8, it won't work on 10.

Did you try installing it in XP Compatibility mode?
