I have Windows 8.1 installed and decided I wanted to make a partition to install a clean version of it just for games. My problem is that when I insert the installation disk and boot from it I am stuck at a black screen with a blue windows logo visible and it stays like this for quite a while. I have read online sometimes it takes a bit of time for the windows installation to start up. To begin with it seems like it is going to load with the disk being read by my disk drive but it stops reading after a while and seems to hang on the screen with the blue windows logo. Does anyone have any ideas what to do? I have tried this twice now with the first time waiting 20 mins and the next around 45 mins.

are you wanting to do a clean install of windows 8.1 or are you wanting to create a second installation of windows 8.1 ??

to create a second installation of windows 8.1, you would need to create another partition on your current disk or add another disk..

then you can run the setup.exe from the setup media from within your current OS and just point to the new partition or drive

I am wanting to install Windows 8.1 again on another partion. i have a terabyte HDD and have partioned 130gb which is currently unallocated. The installation disk I have was created with the installation media tools from Windows.

use disk management a create and format NTFS that 130GB partition
then run the setup.exe from the windows 8.1 setup media and point the installation to that 130GB partition

So I am able to install windows 8.1 to the other partition whilst on my current version? As I said it won't load from the DVD drive from boot when I try to.

Yes - run the setup.exe from within your current version of windows 8.1, but point to the new 130GB partition (or drive letter)
