Hello Sam, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Yes, you should get an official copy of Windows 8 CP from Microsoft instead of some unknown source torrent that could be infested with malware. The newer Windows 8 Release Preview will be available from Microsoft sometime during the first week of June (next month) if you wanted that version instead.

If you installed Windows 8 from within Windows 7 then that would be why you lost Windows 7 if not done correctly. If you would like a dual boot with Windows 7 and Windows 8, then the tutorial below can help show you more on how to.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

That's great news.

I hope you didn't lose Windows 7 forever. If you still have your COA product key number for it, you could still download a Windows 7 SP1 ISO from Digital River « My Digital Life for the same edition you had, use Windows 7 USB-DVD Download Tool to create a bootable DVD or USB flash drive with the ISto use to install it, then be able to acticate it with your key number.

It would be best to post about the game issue in the Gaming forum area to get the best help for it.

You could, but you would have to download your drives from the HP support site for your specific computer's model number. Otherwise, you could try and contact HP to try and get a replacement factory recovery disc for you model number.
