Hello Masoomsahib, and welcome to Eight Forums.

You might see if creating a bootable Windows 8 installation DVD or USB using the method in the tutorial below may work for you.

How are you trying to install Windows 8, and in what type of setup (ex: dual boot or by itself)?

Hope this helps,
Shawn

In addition to the above, you can check on your bios settings for Plug and Play OS to be enabled or set to yes.

ASUS boards by factory default are set to no and it causes problems like that when installing Windows.

Even better is to set Optimized Defaults first, save. Then check Plug and Play OS setting and set to enabled if needed, then save. If you are using an SSD drive, then also set the storage for AHCI mode there and save.

If you play to keep Windows 7 and that is currently not running in AHCI mode (and you have SSD), don't change that one at all yet. We'll have to do some things to make it all work well.

Check the hash of the file you downloaded and compare it to the value shown here: Windows 8 Consumer Preview download links now live - Neowin

If the hash is not the same, then your download is not well.

If you use Google, you can find a 3rd party utility to install to check on hashes. I never used this, but it will probably be good: HashCheck Shell Extension

As for the bios settings, you can check your motherboard owner's manual or the motherboard website which will have a .pdf owner's manual. I can't tell you any better since all bios versions are different. Good luck.

It probably has something to do with poor internet connection. I am aware that parts of India are very slow, so I am guessing maybe Pakistan is similar in that regard.

If that is not the issue, I would definitely uninstall any 3rd party security in safe mode with the special tool. If this is Windows 7 you have now, reboot and install MSE on it then.

Uninstall all download manager types of software.

Then try to download again. You might have better luck finding a torrent that claims to be that good hash. I never looked myself at all. If you do find something like that, just check the hash when it completes.

Good luck.

Hi, greetings from Taiwan!

I had similar symptoms but the fault was not the Internet. It turned out to be a bad RAM stick that corrupted almost all large file transfers. This was hard to detect because the OS still worked OK, mostly. After I put in new RAM, everything worked!

I suggest you try to move around a few large files on your system and compare their hashes. (TeraCopy is a good tool to use.)

I might be wrong but I thinking copying a large (multiple GB) file within the same partition (or drive) should also reveal the problem. Also, you can try downloading some other software other than Windows 8. They should also be easily corrupted if bad RAM is indeed the problem.

You can remove 1 stick at a time and see if the problem gets solved. The chance of 2 bad sticks is relatively small. But if you want to do a more rigorous RAM test, the Memtest tool is something people have tried (I have little experience with it). Or you can borrow RAM that you know is "good".

Other possible problems: bad HDD, bad cable, bad HDD controller. In my case I tried different cables, different hard drives, even a PCI controller. But none made any difference.
