Hello

Its like this i had win7 on this laptop
I formatted and installed win8
The problem was i also had a linux extended partition on this drive that i needed to get rid of
I managed to get rid of it with gparted but that ruined everything
Win8 would not boot any more
Tried reinstalling several times and always getting the error above
I have googled but what information i found was sketchy

boot from your windows setup media - once you get to the "install" screen, hit F10 to bring up a command prompt

This assumes you only have (1) harddrive installed in PC - the harddrive for the windows installation

type> diskpart
type> select disk 0
type> clean

close prompt and continue with install

You made or windows setup made?

when running setup - allow windows to install to the unallocated space - so the partitions get placed in proper alignment

of course windows made some...i first made c: of about 50g and windows automatically made its little 300m ahead of that...and then i made the big d: out of the rest of the space...is anything wrong with that?

U197,
Best I can suggest is download and create windows 8.1 setup media using the link in my sig below.. (select same version as for your win8 key)

Your system is booting via Legacy and uses MBR partitions...

What you did with your partitions was OK, so not sure why the error, but a search seemed to point to installation issue.. which may be software issue..

Although, I would once again, use diskpart, clean disk, try the windows installation with new setup media, then after we get it setup, setup the DATA partition
