Winload.efi missing when booting from USB.

I have a laptop with windows 8.1. And I would like to reinstall it.

It an an UEFI laptop which only supports bootable UEFI media. Now I did not find it an issue creating an UEFI bootable USB. I created it using a freeware called Rufus but the problem is that each time I try to boot from the device I get this error:
0xc0000225 - File \Windows\System32\winload.efi is either corrupted or missing
I tried every single possibility. I was browsing the web and tried various solutions for 7 hours and still couldn't find out why it does not want to boot from the USB. I used various commands, methods, approaches... nothing works. I always get this error.

The thing is operating system works without a problem, so I doubt the issue is in it. It boots fine, there are no issues, it runs smoothly. I have another edition of windows 8, fully licensed and I would like to install it. But thanks to this issue I am unable to create a device that actually boots.

The laptop is a HP pavilion.

Any help would be appreciated.

I already did recovery using the inbuilt laptop function. Still can not boot from a UEFI media. I get the same error.

I doubt I will be able to load

I already did recovery using the inbuilt laptop function. Still the error persists and I am unable to boot from UEFI media.

I assume CD won't even boot, and even if it will I doubt it will be any different recovery than the one I already did.

Any more advices?

This is exactly what I did. Then when I select USB in the boot menu I get this error.

Yes I did select the USB. The very USB you told me to create. If it was not UEFI it would not show up in the first place. The error still persists. I have absolutely no idea what is causing it.

I would ask what media did you start with to create the USB drive, and then what process with Rufus was used?

The way I make mine, I start with an .iso or an install DVD. I use Diskpart to clean the drive, then create a primary partition, format it as Fat32. Then use the Diskpart commands of assign and active. After the USB drive has been prepared, I then copy the files over from the mounted .iso or DVD.

There are tutorials on this forum for doing this and may have already been linked to.

If you have created the USB drive is such a manner and it does not work, possibly the media is flawed. Of course we know only the 64 bit version of the media will work in UEFI.

Below I am including the Diskpart listing when looking at the details of the drive itself and the partition. You might compare yours to this.

Solved it. The issue was not the program but the fact that I used ALL IN ONE edition of windows. I got my hands on an illegal version of 64 bit windows and it worked fine.

My question now is. How am I supposed to turn an NON EFI windows into an EFI windows.

I'm not sure what you mean.

If you installed Windows 8 in Legacy BIOS Boot Mode and if you want GPT partition style, then you will have to reinstall Windows 8 in UEFI Boot Mode.

Here is info about Legacy BIOS Boot Mode (installing using the MBR partition style) and UEFI Boot Mode (installing using the GPT partition style): link

You can't UEFI install has to installed UEFI if you set it MBR then you either reinstall UEFI or live with it MBR. A Data Disk can be converted from MBR to GPT but a OS has to be installed to GPT Can't be successfully converted to GPT
