Hey there.

You need the RAID or IDE driver available while installing, on a floppy, CD/DVD, USB or in your case since VM here, a HDD/SSD.

I forget now as it has been years, but you press F6 or something like that when it says to add devices or similar.

Type msinfo32 in the start menu then press enter. Look on the page shown next to System model, for the motherboard. Then visit the manufacturer's site. Many times, they offer it as a floppy or if not, just a normal driver. If you download it as a zip, extract it to a folder first.

Then when installing and after pressing F6 when it says you can, point it to the extracted folder and on you go.

Dell's site should have it too, for your model.

This is the screen I'm talking about:

so this is all done on the host computer, and then installing this driver will fix the vm problem, right? sorry, kinda new to all this... =D

Ya ya...download in host, extract in host so it is ready.

Then in Oracle, go to install XP. Watch the screen closely and when you see F6 at the bottom, press it like crazy on the keyboard lol. Memories...
