When copying the image from OEM HDD over to the new SSD i struggled getting the same order for the partitions .
Disk 0 is the new SSD (windows 8.1)
Disk 1 is the OEM HDD (which I plan using for storage)

Does the order of the partitions matter ? and if so , what order to use and how to change order ?

The order of the partitions does not matter. What matters that the drive where your OS is stored boots up first. This you verify in the BIOS. Disk 0 must boot up first.

Since you talking about partitions? perhaps your don't understand You are not going to copy things over. You will have to use a software to CLONE your old hard drive to your new SSD That would be to CLONE the Complete Disk to the SSD. There are a few programs out there, I use Macrium Reflect, the free version will work for Cloning or Imaging, Disk, if you want to use it for Files and folders back up you'll have to pay.

I agree Clinlgm, "copy" is the wrong word. To clarify, I used MRFree to make an image of the HDD onto the SSD (resizing partition C:\ , to fit it all in).

The reason for me asking about the order of partition was the following note : "It is imperative that these 4 partitions remain in the exact order as they are" from the tutorial "How to Install Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 using (UEFI)" . However i guess this is out of contect....

Thanks for the clarification Nuccii..... good to hear I don't need to "start all over" ... :geek:

I'm just curious, but if you imaged the disk then restored the disk image to your SSD, all the partitions would be exactly as they were on the hard drive when you made the Image. Also if you Cloned your hard drive directly to your SSD again the SSD would be the same as the hard drive exactly except for smaller C:\ partition? Happy for you that you got it running anyway
