Folks, I can use some help here. Using an online tutorial, I successfully created a third partition on my 64-bit computer, labelled "G" drive. It worked.

The tutorial then explained that I need to put the 8 ISO DVD into the DVD drive and reboot. I did.

It then explained that I would be offered an option, and I should choose "Custom." It did not. I only received my normal start-up screen.

It said to go into BIOS, and make booting from a DVD the first option. I did, but it did not change anything.

"My Computer" tells me that the G drive is still there. I even dragged a desktop copy of the ISO into the G drive, but nothing happened.

Do you get the message

"press any key to boot from dvd drive " or similar?

If not, perhaps the dvd is not bootable.

Could be a bad iso download, or a bad burn.

If you are running win8 now - how did you install it?

You could try mounting the iso and running setup from the mounted drive - see if that works for you.

If you don't have an isohandler - the free ( unregistered) version of PowerISO - Create, Burn, Mount, Edit, Compress, Encrypt, Split, Extract ISO file, ISO/BIN converter, Virtual Drive is very good.

Just click the download button. The unregistered version is not time limited and is fully functional ( except for iso editing - which you don't need here )

When you changed the boot order in the BIOS, did you save the setting. Else you can temporarily change the boot order. These are the keys you have to tap when the BIOS splash screen comes up.

Asus - F8
HP/Compaq - Esc
Sony - F2
Acer - F12
Gateway - F10
eMachnes - F10
Toshiba - F12
Dell - F12
IBM/Lenovo - the blue Thinkvantage button

!!!!!!YES!!!!!!! I've got it installed and I'm running Windows 8 Preview on my hard drive right now. And I've got full screen! On my computer, you have to press F11 to change your boot-up order. I found that out by restarting several times until I could catch the message as it flashed by. It took about forty-five minutes, and I now have it installed on my G drive. I was able to keep my 32-bit XP for some old games, and 8 is running great!
