Trying to reinstall Win 8

  1. #21

    Done did it...

First, i found my old CD of Dell drivers and utility stuff so i decided to go ahead and install whatever i didn't have, even the ones not necessary... BAD IDEA. There were most likely some compatibilty issues and everything just went downhill... i wasnt even able to start the desktop, i would just get a blue screen saying that i got an error and windows needs to be restarted and this just repeated over and over... fortunately, i've found a way to install Windows 7, hah !

As you know, my problem so far has been that my keyboard would pretty much deactivate when i was supposed to "Press any key to boot from DVD".... so i can load the windows and install it.
Here's what i did: First i went into BIOS and changed my Function Ley Behavior to Multimedia Key, next when that press any key thing appeard i pressed Fn+F6 (My f6 doesnt have any extra functions) and BAM, my windows loaded and i've installed it

    Crazy huh?

Thanks for the assistance guys !

Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center x64

    Yes, crazy o.0

I was having trouble thinking up a solution as it is unusual to have a keyboard stop working. Windows preloads drivers for it, and the BIOS should take care of anything else. Why it wasn't working still confounds me.

Great idea what you did, never would have thought of it, especially since you had the latest BIOS installed, and it should be set to default.

    Don't forget those drivers! haha
