Hi guys ,

I bought a HP notebook with windows 8.1 installed , but no installation DVD . In order to create one I downloaded from Microsoft , ( from windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media ) the Windows 8.1 Setup ( file OSGS14-WindowsSetupBox-32bitand64bit-English-4141408.exe ) and ran it but always receiving the message : we can't connect right now . I have tried more than 20 times and failed.
Is there any other solution to this ? is this Microsoft service still pending ?

Hello Babis, and welcome to Eight Forums.

You are getting that error because you are entering an OEM product key in the Windows 8.1 Setup for an ISO. Windows 8.1 Setup will only work with a retail product key. :(
Since this is an OEM PC that came with Windows preinstalled, you would be creating factory recovery media instead. If you like, you could create a recovery USB flash drive with the Copy contents from the recovery partition to the recovery drive box checked to be able to boot from the USB to reinstall Windows back to factory conditions as needed.
