I had two failed installation attempts of Windows 8 CP. I want to dual boot with Windows 7.
Used this tutorial: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/2393-windows-8-vhd-create-boot-dual-boot.html
Both times I tried to install to an expanding VHD that I had created on my Windows 7 C:\
Installation runs as expected up to the Getting Devices Ready screen. Once it reaches 100% the screen goes black and it is totally unresponsive.
I wasn't going to bother trying again, but it's a new day and I don't want to give up so easily.
How can I troubleshoot what caused this to go wrong?
I am thinking of trying the installation again, although opting to create a new partition on disk 0 (only have one HDD). However it's really just hoping for the best... I would rather understand what went wrong with my previous attempts at installation. For example, is the problem with my Laptop, with my .iso, with my bootable DVD, with my devices, or with my HDD? I know other people have had similar black screen problems but none seem to have solutions yet.
