Is there a way to get back to Windows 7 if I need to?

Hi,
Not sure whether I am posting in the right thread, but I did an install from within Windows 7, so I assume that I have lost the option to revert to that OS. I am a total novice at this sort of thing, but being an android lover, I just merrily went along thinking I was downloading an App...turns out to be a rather large one!
Question is...Am I now stuck with this, and only until Jan 2013, when I will no longer have a functioning OS?
Is there a way to get back to Windows 7 if I need to?
I have retained a backup of 7 on a separate external drive to my backup of 8.
Luckily I don't mind Windows 8, and am liking it more as I become more familiar, and read your guides, but I realise now I should have done my research first and done a dual install. I gather it's too late for me now?
Thanks for your advice,
regards, Phil

As long as you didn't install OVER Windows 7, and did a dual boot scenario, yes, Windows 7 should still be there.

But to be sure, check your C drive, is there a Windows.old folder that has your old user files?

If you haven't done a dual boot install, your installation of Windows 7 is gone.

However, as Coke Robot has said in the post above me, there may be a Windows.old folder in your C: drive that may be able to help you out.

Okay, I have the Windows.old file but what am I exactly looking for in the file to install Windows 7 back?

It is a bit fiddly - I posted it up somewhere a while back.

Will see if I can find it. EDIT: No idea where that is.

I posted a load of screenshots about it.

In November at a guess.

Don't know what the thread title was.
