If I install a different version of Windows 8 so I can dual boot would it cause any boot problems? I would like to dual boot Windows 8 Pro 64 bit and Windows 8 32 bit to run older programs. My computer was pre-installed with Windows 7 so i don't have UEFI. Windows 8 32 bit will be a full install.

32bit programs will run on 64bit windows ,just not the other way around .

it is possible ,i kind of do it now ,just that both of mine are 64bit .
you would need to partition the hard drive to create two partitions ,one for each version of windows .if you have win7 installed now you could use disk manager to shrink the original partition to make room for the second partition .

this tutorial is for win7 and vist but the idea is the same i think .

I have some hardware I want to start using again that only have 32 bit drivers. I also have some 16 bit programs I want to use. I'll be installing to a separate hard drive. I already have the Windows 8 disk that I was going to install to an old laptop. I'm still deciding which direction I want to go.

save all your data. i am not very sure if 32 bit install later to 64 bit version if can bring in boot troubles.
first 32bit and then 64 bit may not give problems.
