I have a windows 8 partition and vista partition. I want to uninstall VISTA, how do I do this? Do I set windows 8 as my active partition and just delete VISTA partition under disk management?

Post a screen capture of a full screen Disk Management first please.

To open Disk Management, press Windows key+r, type diskmgmt.msc and press Enter or click GO. Make it full screen.

How to Use the Snipping Tool in Vista - Vista Forums (says it's for Vista but also works with Win 7/8).

You didn't follow directions. Make it full screen and do it again please. I can't see Disk 1 info.

Okay, sorry. Looked like there was a Disk 1 hidden at the bottom of the picture.

From the picture,

Windows 8 is on C: and is the Active partition and has the boot on it.
Vista is on D:.

You should be okay to delete D: then merge it into C: if you want more space there, or even merge part of it.

thx for the reply. ok so i deleted the D drive and it became a unallocated space. There was no option for me to extend the volume on the windows 8 drive. I tried making a new volume out of the unallocated space but there was still no option to extend the volume. How do i fix this/

I know this is solved but to avoid this again format (be sure to boot from the disk) the boot drive and install from there.

so are you saying that I was suppose to go on vista first, and then install windows 8 on that? This was how i did it: created a partition and installed windows 8 on it via boot on usb.

Well, if you were trying to dual boot, what you did was fine. It's fine on what you did, but the way I showed will save you time later on.

Ya i did dual boot because I didn't know how my niece and nephew would react to windows 8 and how the old laptop would handle it.

Ah, ok. then you did it right. Does your niece and nephew like it? Did it run OK? But I would like to add, why did you go with enterprise?

So far it's running OK, everything is running fine AFAIK but it lost Intel's version of amd CCC since there's no version for windows 8, only 7. I installed enterprise because that was the only one my relative gave to me.

The only thing I'm worry about is that it is the 64 bit version and the laptop only has 3 gb. So Idk how negatively the it would affect performance.

Their initial impression was "cool".
