Ho to install win8.1 update

I wondering if I can skip wind 8.1 an go straight from wind 8 to wind 8.1 update.

If you use the store and windows update they will all be delivered together.

i thought the win8.1 update from win8 was a complete kernel change .if so how could the store update win8 to win8.1.1 without first updating to win8.1,i know i gotta be missing something

caperjack...The 8.1 available from the store now has the update already included, making it 8.1.1. so it won't be necessary to load that 800-900 mb patch from Windows Update.

ok, but OP used the word Skip,making it sound like they want to not have to do a big download .

I took "skip" to mean skipping the two part process, Store update to 8.1 then Windows update to 8.1 with update. The store update is now Windows 8.1 with update.
Looking at from the other point of view results in a "you can't get there from here". Like you said, you have to be running 8.1 to just download the update. Either way the OP is looking at, at least one big download.
