Okey Dokey . . .

I've been holding off updating to Windows 8.1 because of the "sleep issue" http://www.eightforums.com/general-support/28226-windows-8-1-refuses-sleep.html (it's a huge thread, folks).

I was about ready to jump onto Windows 8.1 to see if the sleep and NumLock issues have been solved yet (don't think it is for sleep and I've given up on NumLock); however, after doing some research and reading here, I'm wondering if I should just wait for the April update.

What do y'all think?

I believe the April update is an update from 8.1 (not 8) so you will need to install 8.1 beforehand. Might as well do it now.

Not so much curious, Edwin, as wanting to save time and effort. And it looks like 'strollin just killed off that option.

Thanks, I think, 'strollin. So much for saving time and effort . . .

OK, bit the bullet and now I'll see if Sleep is fixed in Windows 8.1. Or, if I have all the patches or will have to install them.

Probably I have multiple dates with Windows Update. Sigh . . .

Interesting....my pc wouldn't stay in sleep mode with 8 Pro installed, but after updating to 8.1 it does. Go figure! :D

Me too (luckily). There are currently 931 posts of which I've read up to about page 54 before giving up. I've a feeling that they would be jumping for joy if it was fixed.

I got on the ground floor of that thread; I had just bought this PC and had installed Windows 8 on an older self-built one. So, I've read just about every message posted. Some interesting and educational stuff there for sure.

I should know pretty soon . . . updates have just finished installing so I'll restart and mosey off to the living room with Hubs for awhile and then sneak up on this li'l ole PC . . .

David, update(s) cured the sleep problem for some and didn't touch it for others. I think the count may be less than 10 that got fixed and more than a gazillion that didn't. ;)
