Hello,

I'm currently trying to create a bootable Windows 8.1 disc for future clean installs, but because I have Windows OEM product key, i'm getting the following error "We can't connect right now. Check your internet connection and try again." when trying to download the Windows 8.1 ISO from Upgrade Windows with only a product key - Microsoft Windows Help

After rummaging through some threads....

There really hasn't been a solid workaround for those who have an OEM product key. Or maybe I'm missing something.

I also read that the following generic key 334NH-RXG76-64THK-C7CKG-D3VPT has more than likely been blacklisted and this may be the reason i'm receiving the above message. Are there any current workarounds? I just want to create a simple bootable Windows 8.1 disc. :(

Specs:
OS: Microsoft Windows 8.1
System Type: x64 (OEM)
Version: 6.3.9600 Build 9600

Unfortunately the repository for Win 8.1 Pro is no longer valid.

EDIT: Nevermind. The download was a magnet URL.

10th October 2014 and I have just been quoted the same generic key you have listed, by a microsoft advisor, as their 8.1 upgrade to my preinstalled 8 removed the Asus recovery F9 option. I too get the no internet connection screen. Looks like I'm still without an option to fresh install to fix my issues. If they think I'll be entertaining trying win10 when it comes out then they are mistaken.
It seemed to me that their error in the upgrade to 8.1 and removing the Asus recovery option is not their issue and I should be asking Asus for a solution. I think their days are numbered. Android will wipe them out completely.
