Restoring factory setting for Windows 8

A month ago, I bought an XPS 7800 with windows 8 and a 2 TB drive. On the same day I received it, the drive was partitioned into ca 200 GB (for Win 8) and ca 1700 GB (for data) partitions. Computer ran smoothly.

A few times, the computer prompted Create Factory Reinstall Disk Now started (I am not sure the language is correct or not. My memory is fuzzy now). After running for a while, it failed due to "Corrupted environment". This happened repeatedly. I felt that somehow I messed up recovery partitions in the factory installed 2TB-hard disk.

Since the computer did not come with Windows 8 re-installation disk but come with Windows 8 recovery media for Windows 8 products 64-bit DVD disk.

I am concerned that how I can restore Windows 8 if windows 8 crashes in future. Please advise me.
BTW, is there anyway to restore factory settings of recovery partitions?

When I got the computer, there were 4 partitions: 2GB, 500 MB (EFI), 8.18 GB (Recovery) and 1.8TB (?) paritions.
The first three partitions are presumed for recovery parturitions.

Then, the 1.8TB partitions were split into 200 GB (Windows) and 1.7 GB (for data) with EASEUS Partition Master.
But there was no change in the size of the above, first three recovery-related partitions.

The failure in the running of Create Factory Reinstall Disk suggests that the use of a partition master possibly corrupted recovery partitions.

There have been reports Easeus pm changes the recovery partition ID. Have a go at changing it back.

Qub1
So I did the following to fix it:
- Open CMD
- Type diskpart
- Type list disk
- Select the disk with the recovery partition, using select disk # (mine was select disk 0)
- Type list partition
- Select the recovery partition, using select partition # (mine was select partition 6). The partition has OEM listed as its type.
- Then I used set id=27 to set the id to that of Recovery, but since my drive was GPT and not MBR, it didn't work.
- So, I did some Googling and found that for a GPT disk I had to use set id=DE94BBA4-06D1-4D40-A16A-BFD50179D6AC
- So I did set id=DE94BBA4-06D1-4D40-A16A-BFD50179D6AC
- It succeeded, so I again typed list partition and it was now listed as Recovery!
- Rebooted into the Recovery Environment, and it detected my Restore partition and allowed me to reset.

STW2,
Your post would be very useful. I am not sure whether 2TB in my computer was GPT or MBR.
My computer was crashed two days ago (which was posted under other thread). I couldn't do anything until its motherboard is replaced by Dell.

How and where can I get Windows 8 re-installation disk from Dell? When recovery partition gets corrupted, windows 8 installation disk would solve the problem.
