Today I was really amazed.
History: In November, I installed the Win8 DE on my HP desktop. Then I got a new Dell desktop on Christmas. I cleared the disk on the HP and gave that system away.
Now I just reinstalled Win8 DE on my new Dell. To my great amazement it not only found my desktop picture that I had used on the HP Win8 installation but it also made the setting for the German qwertz keyboard I used at the time - whilst I now use a US qwerty keyboard.
They must be keeping that info at the MS site, because there are absolutely no common denominators between my old HP system and that new system - different disks, different keyboard, different everything.

Wow, that's quite strange actually. I've never heard of something like that happening. But if you logged in using the same Microsoft account, that's quite possible. It is a little scary too though. What else are they keeping at MS about us?

It get even weirder. The wife had to remind me. The data was from my Win8 installation I made in Germany on my system there. I never actually had it installed here in FL before today.

Actually that heppn for me too.
When i reinstalled Win 8 DP and enabled the online sync (after installation) suddenly, my wallpaper changed what it was, my typing language changed, and start screen.
Nice feature, but bad when they do it in apple style D:

Yeah, it was not convenient. They had set my German keyboard, but now I am in the US with a US keyboard. I wish they would at least ask rather than dump that on you.
They ask permission for everything, but when you delete something to the recycle bin, they supressed the confirmation. It goes straight thru. In exchange they ask for 3 confirmations if you want to restore that same item from the recycle bin - that's odd.
