Solved Removing win7 from dual boot

I have win7 and 8 dual boot. However, as I had win7 for some time and have been installing and uninstalling all sorts of apps, my registry got filled up, although i have 92 and 94% free hdds memory. Therefore win7 is very slow.

Win8 however starts within seconds, opens anything the moment its told to open, in general processes huge ammount of data without all unnecessay services and processes. Therefore, I no longer have a need to have win7 on my computer.

How can I remove win7 from the computer?

Install EasyBCD on Win8, then make the Win8 partition the bootable one, delete the entry to Win7, reboot and format the old Win7 partition. This should work :)

In addition, another method which should work is to use msconfig to remove the bootloader entry (Windows Key & R to open the run dialogue and type in msconfig and click OK)

Once msconfig is open, Select the Boot Tab, Highlight and select the Windows 7 bootloader in the boot options and click the Delete button.

Which ever method you choose to use, once the bootloader is removed then you can format the Windows 7 partition to free up space, just ensure any data is backed up first!

when you start your computer press delete until the bios setup opens. then go to 'boot' tab (if you have a phoenix bios) then select 'harddrive disks' and select that disc that you prefer as the primary hard disk. (if the hard disc is fat32 bios might think that it's a usb device, so select hard drive as the primary boot device.

No, I don't have tabs. It offers menu, like a list. I have some kind of intelligent tweaker, advanced cmos settings, advanced bios settings,...

And guys, I've deleted Win7 partition. can i now extend Win8 partition and how?

You can use the Disc management function from within windows. To access this, open a command prompt (Windows key & R) and type in diskmgmt.msc and hit the OK button. From here you should see all your hard drives and partitions in your computer and manage them from here.

Your unallocated space is on the left side of Win8 partition, the unallocated space should be on the right side of the win8 partition, you can only extend with another third party utility mentioned by Cookieman.

Unless anyone has other solutions then you could also try PartedMagic (free Software)

This is downloadable as a bootable ISO from which you can burn to disc and then boot your computer independently of the operating system so the drives you want to change will not be locked or in use.

Parted Magic Home page >> start

As always - be aware to back up any existing data before extending/removing or creating partitions!

Mirac? Are you AWARE that Windows 8 will expire soon? I find it doesn't behoove you to delete Windows 7 (If already done, oh well).
From what I have read at the MSDN Windows 8 forum, there still in doubt that with the number of WDP being used already if MS will
make it a totally open beta. LOOKING like to get it, you will need a MSDN membership to be 100% guaranteed to test it out when released in February. (Note: Microsoft has been overwhelmed by the response to the Developers Preview).

No need for hurry, microsoft has set the expiration date to windows 8 DP to april 2012, so you'll have plenty of time to use win8 even if you never get the beta.

EDIT: At least build 8102
