First of all hello , im new here...

Im very frustrated with windows at thw moment. Yesterday when i booted my computer, it gave me the option to update to 8.1, so without thinking i clicked ok... Only to realize that it kinda bugged my comp. it wasnt doing anything, no indication of anything running or installing, but my desktop was bugged and it didnt fully load. After like 20 min of waiting and nothing i got tired of waiting and shut it down with the button, because the shut down option didnt seem to work.

When i rebooted my computer i noticed that it would only get me as far as the startup screen ( black screen with the blue windows icon in the middle ) and the loading indicator was rolling forever. So then i understood something went wrong.

I tried rebooting a few times and it was always the same thing.

I got really mad and went to a friends house who has a windows 8 cd ( i downloaded my windows 8 so i didnt have the cd) went back home, lauched from the cd and at the install / repair screen, i clicked repair and literally nothing happened, clicked many times and absolutely nothing. So i clicked install instead to see if it would work, and as i type this from my phone, its been about an hour and its still loading , its written 'installation starting' ( i guess because my version is in french) and the loading cursor is rolling and absolutely nothing happens.

I absolutely cannot lose my files on my computer, i have 5 months worth of personal projects, and im at a loss here, i dont know what to do.

Id REALLY appreciate some help, so if anyone is kind enough, please help me

This may or may not help.
Keeping that in mind---

In the past I got stuck on the loading of my system.
Following a suggestion I had previously found via Google, I restarted & shut it off with the power button.
I did this several times & finally got a screen with boot options.

If you choose to try this, you may get to safe mode or restore so you can use a restore point.

Or not. :(

If you can get a command prompt, type in - rstrui.exe -- & press Enter key & a window will appear where you can choose a restore point.

This is all I can think of at the moment.

EDIT-

If you get things working again, I suggest getting:

Macrium Reflect FREE Edition - Information and download

& imaging ALL your local drives to a bootable usb drive so you can EASILY replace your system. :)
