After 8.1 upgrade: how to login with Live.com account?

My laptop upgraded to 8.1 and I entered my Live.com info successfully. A verification code was sent to my alternate email address and the setup page accepted it.

The rest of the install finishedand I got back to the login page.

It still had my original local account as the user which I'm under the impression won't work anymore

I changed the user to myid@live.com(same I used at setup) but it says "login failed" with the same password I can log into account.Live.Com

What am I doing wrong?

Hi, welcome to the forums,
Have you tried to switch to Microsoft account in PC Settings? if not, click the Charms bar, go to Change PC Settings, select Users and switch to MS Account.

Is the charms bar accessible from login screen? Thought that was the main bar in windows?

I can't log in.

Also have been trying my normal local account. That won't login either.

The the support guy wanted to change my boot settings in bios...

Did the 8.1 upgrade put a different install or mbr on the hard drive?

Or was he just lost and wanting me to call dell instead?

Hrmmm OK. I can log in with the Administrator account now. I thought that was hosed to. Looks like the 8.1 upgrade changed the name of the Admin account back to "Administrator" from what I set it to at original 8 install...

I can see my live.com account if I go to "Control Panel\User Accounts and Family Safety\User Accounts\Manage Accounts"

It has my correct live.com email id there. But I still can't log into that account. Do I have to delete it and re-add it?

Triple verified my live account. It logs into Skype fine and I've never used it for Skype before. Just found out there's no more MS Messenger...
