Update & Recovery

Hi!

Recently, I updated my desktop from Windows 8, to 8.1, from the Microsoft store.


This process updated my system, retaining all of my original programs and applications!


With the previous version, that is Windows 8, there was an option, in Update & Recovery, to restore/repair Windows 8.


There were a number of options, including (1) to re-install Windows over writing everything on the drive (Effectively a clean installation), or (2) to reinstall Windows, without over writing the original programs and applications!


Are both these options available in Windows 8.1, without the requirement for a Windows installation DVD. Specifically, in the version of Windows 8.1, available from the free download from Microsoft's store!


My interest is in establishing whether I can perform a clean installation of Windows 8.1, without the need to purchase a Windows 8.1 DVD

hello, to the best of my knowledge if the need arises you would have to re- install win8,then go back to the store and do the win 8.1 update again .
the option to choose are now located in the charms-Bar in settings /change settings/update and recovery .

I had to Refresh my Win 8.1. Unfortunately, not everything was left in tact, however, it still creates the Windows.old folder for you.
