Help me, every time i try to install the update from the store it freezes at "setting up a few more things" usually at 76% but one time at 6%. My computer meets the requirements, all drivers latest.

Mine does the same thing, but freezes at 59%. Only displays error code after I restart it and it restores the previous version. Tried so many things and nothing works. Microsoft tech support had me remove my wireless card, and that didn't work either.

It freezes without giving you an error code ? Check Event Viewer to see if there happens to be an error code.

Also, clear Store cache and disable AV.

Kaspersky for some odd reason is taking half of my internet speed (It really does, after i close it the net speeds up trendemously)

And i cleared it, but the install file just won't delete, it's still downloaded, and starts installation in the store right away,

Yep, an error code starting like 0x000101000, (This is not the real code) that is because it couldn't upgrade.

That is a common code. I experienced the same and was successful with the cache clearing and disabling AV.

You many want to uninstall Kaspersky completely. I had Kaspersky and some components are not yet compatible with 8.1. Have not yet researched at the Kaspersky forum.

Also, you may consider doing a System Refresh on your current Win8 to get everything back to default and then try to reinstall 8.1.

We called Microsoft, they took over, fixed a lot of things (turns out that installing windows from a recovery media doesn't work quite right.) We uninstalled Kaspersky, ccleaner and defraggler, now theres only 42 programs in the list. X) We tried again, but it froze at the same place.

Are you against doing a System Refresh ? This would put your system back to default and retain your files, may lose some apps.

But you would have a clean Windows 8 to upgrade from.

We called them BEFORE i saw your post. We tried to do it, but the recovery media i have contains both 32 and 64bit, so even if i select x64, it thinks i try to degrade him.

So when you do a Refresh it asks for recovery media ? A Refresh should take you back to Win 8 which came installed on your computer providing you have a recovery partition.

... What? Isn't refresh when you use the dvd to "reinstall" the OS without losing anything?

Hi there
Try the "ISO download" trick I believe that's mentioned in the forum and then install from the ISO image.

Cheers

I'll wait for Microsoft to check my event viewer logs, and call back tomorrow, if they don't fix it i'll try refresh.
