It should show up if you are eligible for the upgrade. How about a screenshot of this? And please provide your system specs as well and include a description of you Windows 8 installation methodology (if applicable).

Yes, it sure looks like you are eligible. So, did you check into mikeytg's suggestion? Also, did you browse the optional downloads in the Store to make sure it wasn't there?

What happens if you paste this into the address bar of your browser (and press Enter)?

there is nothing like that in win 8 store... u saw my 1st screenshot, right?

Maybe you have to move your cursor around for those navigation arrows to appear but they should show up. Try hovering right over the top and bottom of the 1st selection shown.

@DavidY That is a great suggestion! I tried it in IE11 and it gave me the option to download the update even though I don't need it.

@OP Try DavidYs suggestion using IE, you know how finnicky MS can be.

what is the problem with my laptop.

Not sue at this point but you obviously "look" eligible for the upgrade, and there have been many appropriate suggestions, so I can only guess there are probably two issues left to explore:

1. Maybe there is something in your configuration that is denying the ability to upgrade so how about supplying your system specs so we can have a detailed peek. Note that I seriously doubt this is the issue but we need to cover all bases here. However, normally any hardware issues are discovered ONLY after the upgarde is available and the process has been started.

2. I hate to think that this might be an issue but maybe you are not considered eligible because you (somehow) have your installation registered on more than one PC. Any chance that you (or someone else) used your installation disc elsewhere? Please understand that I have no idea whether or not this assumption may apply because it seems like you installation came pre-installed on your laptop but I just have to ask if there could possibly be an authentication issue here?

God luck... I'm out of ideas then. And sorry none of our suggestions worked for you.

Hi everybody,

I've joined to share my workaround to installing 8.1 Final on top of the Preview if the Microsoft Store doesn't show the update as available.

My friend installed 8.1 preview on top of Windows 8 via the Store a while back and was running into the same issue where the Final of 8.1 wasn't showing on the store, it just reverted to the Home page (with facebook showing as a featured app). So We used the following link.. Write it in the address field in your Browser.

Update from Windows 8.1 Preview to Windows 8.1 - Microsoft Windows Help

Once you've hit the link, look for the following section, and click on the text in Bold (won't be in bold when the link opens) :

  • Download Windows 8.1 from the Windows Store.
(You can also enter ms-windows-store:WindowsUpgrade into the address bar of your browser to reach the download page.)

This should Open up the 8.1 Download page. If not, read ahead..

Originally this produced a blank page with a spinning loading icon. So I opened Task manager, ended the "store" process, reopened the Link above to find the update was now available.

RT versions of 8.1 have been removed temporarily due to a a problem with removable storage, but this workaround works fine with Windows 8.1 Pro Preview (ie - Pc/laptop).

Give it a shot.
