Hi there

I'm installing WINDOWS 8.1 ENTERPRISE (64 bit) from a running Windows 8 Enterprise system (64 bit).

1) note that even if you run this from within windows 8 ENTERPRISE it will install FROM NEW - however I'd already saved email and other stuff so I could re-import outlook stuff again.

2) some special drivers (Touch screen etc) didn't get installed -- however go to device manager and chose update driver -- use search on computer and point the file to WINDOWS.OLD -- it will re-install the relevant drivers.

3) Old Windows 7 classic games still work if you want to install these --I posted a link in the Forum - just search on it

4) everything else I run installed without any significant problems whatsoever

5) IE explorer kept Favourites (I selected keep user data at install time)

Here's desktop apps I installed as a first test. (Windows enterprise w8.1 64 bit version)

Office 2010 professional 32 bit version -- have a lot of excel addins that only work with 32 bit version and I don't like office 2013.

visio 2010 32 bit version
project 2010 32 bit version
Mp3tag
winamp
photoshop CS6
Calibre
Kindle e-reader
NERO (version 9)
Nero mega plugin pack
SQUEEZEBOX (Audio media streamer application)
Utorrent
VMware workstation release 10 - all my VM's worked without change
SKY GO desktop (to get the popout window to work you have to select F12 and then choose run in IE10 compatibility mode or IE9 / IE8 mode.
VLC media player
Acronis true image home 2014

These all work subject to the minor glitch with SKY GO - I've posted on that as a separate issue anyway.

So far so good. If it's stable and fast - then I'm afraid I'll be saying goodbye to my colleagues over at W7. and just run W7 in a VM like I've got with XP and 2003 server.

Cheers
jimbo
