I have a brand new ASUS G750JX running Win 8. The OS is on a 750 GB HDD and I would like to install a 256 GB SSD and move the OS and a few programs to the SSD. Can I clone the drives than use 750 GB HDD for storage? Or is the a better way of moving all the stuff to my SSD?

Thank you for you help...:D

The SSD should have some sort of migration utility to help move the OS. With out knowing what brand it we can't locate the tech specs and how to's for the SSD.

A little oversight on my part, the SSD is a Crucial M4 256gb.

Thanks

Might get slammed but I have cloned many times using Clonezilla and always worked perfectly.

This is all new to me, I have a question on adjusting the size of the partitions. How do I know what size to make them?

Well that depends on your use of BOOT partition but in general 100 or 120 GB should be sufficient.

Well that depends on your use of BOOT partition but in general 100 or 120 GB should be sufficient.

I notice that I have 3 partitions one called, EFI System Partition 300MB, Recovery Partition 900 MB, and
OS (C Boot, Page File, Crash Dump, Primary Partition 275 GB, than I have a Data partition that is 397 GB which is the rest of the HDD.

Can I set it up this way; EFI System Partition 300 MB, Recovery Partition 900 MB, and OS (C Boot, Page File, Crash Dump, Primary Partition 230 GB (estimate) and forgo the Data partition?
