Hello,
I have a dual-boot system (using BootIT NG) with two hard drives. Disk0 has Win7 (normal setup with 100MB System Reserved volume) and Disk1 has Win8 (normal setup with 350MB System Reserved volume). I don't have drive letters assigned to the other OS' volume, so Win8 won't access the Win7 volumes & vice-versa. Disk1 does have one shared volume I use for moving things between the two. I also use Stardock's Start8 on my Win8 installation. I'll take full image backups of both before upgrading & stick them elsewhere.
So i have a few questions about the upgrade that I'm hoping people will know from the preview and/or beta testing. I understand it's a download from the Windows Store.
1) will it overwrite the MBR? I'm assuming it updates that System Reserved volume, but does it leave the MBR alone (since I'm using the BootIT EMBR)? No UEFI here, BIOS only.
2) does it create a Windows.old folder or is it more like a service pack where it just puts the replaced files in a hidden folder under Windows?
3) I expect Start8 will need to be removed entirely before the upgrade & reinstalled afterward. Correct?
Thanks!
