The "real" Windows 8.1 RTM has not been released yet -- despite a lot of activity on the net referring to the "WZT" versions that are floating around. I read only yesterday, that the build 9600 RTM versions floating around are actual "pre-release" and are missing elements that will be in the "real" Windows 8 RTM images released in October.

So, unless you got your RTM image directly from Microsoft, I would not trust it at this time.

RTM has been released to vendors for exactly that reason - updating of driver software...just wait a bit - hopefully by 18th Oct they should all be there...

I think the minimum requirement for the Win 8 default VGA driver is a monitor that can handle a 1024x768 resolution. Since your monitor is native (and maximum) at 1280x720, that could be an issue because the 720 part of your monitor's native resolution falls short of the 768 requirement. The easiest way to prove that is to plug in a different monitor (if available) and test your boot into windows again.

For the record, I have a similar setup as yours and I am using the same B75 chipset with the updated drivers (as suggested by djsigma) and I have no option to select a 1280x720 resolution. Also, for the record, I believe your CPU is only capable of HD 2500 graphics (per Intel) but that shouldn't matter because the driver package contains both HD 2500 and 4000 graphics drivers.

So here's a screenshot of my VGA options, using the B75 chipset and the updated VGA drivers. As you can see, there is no way for me to get to the 1280x720 resolution:

I can only go by the make/model number you identified as
acer x153W monitor.

And I don't see where
actually monitor supports 1366x768.

Good luck.

also i found that if i partion or format a Hard disk in win 8 it says it cant install win 8.1 rtm on the partition

guess MS may announce modified Hardware requirement for win 8.1 different from win 8
