Sorry if this has been discussed before. I cant find the thread if it exists.

Can Windows 8 be made to give the option to install Home or Pro from one iso like Windows 7 could? There is no ei.cfg file to remove like in 7. I tried this method from the How-to Geek but it did not work. Error 87 like a lot of others experienced.

I was actually hoping Brink may have made a tutorial on it? Any thoughts?

A untouched Windows 8 x64 DVD, will install Core or Pro in UEFI mode or Legacy mode.

Hello Photoray,

In addition to what Ray posted above, the product key you enter during installation determines if it will be Windows 8 or Windows 8 Pro installed.

Did you add an ei.cfg file?

Awesome! That makes it so much easier now.

No I haven't tried to add anything to the ISO, thought I would ask here first.

So all that business that the How-to Geek tutorial put me through was totally unnecessary. lol
Thanks for the help.

Glad we could help.

If you just wanted to be able to install 8 or 8 Pro from the DVD/USB, then yeah you wouldn't have needed to do that tutorial.
