Solved UEFI without doing a clean install?

I built myself a new system and I am now on my third clean install of Windows 9 Pro. The first installation was nixed due to faulty programs and the second by faulty hardware. This installation seems to be fine, at least my event log is not showing any significant errors. I really don't won't to do another clean install so the question I have is:

Can I install Windows with UEFI without reinstalling on a new hard drive formatted as GPT?

I don't think that is possible without another clean install to set the proper partition structure for UEFI. However, I don't quite understand where the new hard drive fits in? The way I see it, you need to setup your BIOS for UEFI , select the UEFI boot option for your CD/DVD (in the boot menu). Once done, you can simply reinstall Win 8 (using the UEFI CD/DVD option) and make sure you delete all existing partitions as part of the process. So, once your hard drive shows 100% unallocted, simply click Next and the instllation process should create the proper UEFI partition structure.

I was kind of hoping I could format a GPT drive, copy drive c: to it and then boot from the GPT drive. It would certainly beat spending several days reinstalling my system. I think I will wait until the release of 8.1 before I do another clean install.

You can clone Legacy to UEFI.

If you have Windows 7 installed, & two HDD's, you can clone Legacy to UEFI.

The Paragon app in the link above is for Windows 7, you may need the Paid For app on a Windows 8 PC.

Thank you for that Paragon software suggestion. I was just at their website and their paid software does support Windows 8 64bit. I was going to look at updating my Acronis software but maybe it is time to switch.

I am using Paragon HDM Pro at the moment. It is very good. You might be fine with Home version.
