I have this LG A520-N.BE34P1-5900 notebook which I found is not compatible with Windows 8 when I tried to make an upgrade installation (from 7 Home Premium). After a while I read this stated on the LG related website page.

My question is: if I format the HD and make an installation of Windows 8 Pro from scratch will things work? TIA.

Windows8Upgrade

It's in Brazilian Portuguese (my mother tongue). It seems that model was sold only here in Brazil, or maybe in a few other places, I couldn't find many results on Google. BTW its discontinued even in Brazil.

The important part there is this:

List of models that won't receive the update

Other models are not compatible with the Windows 8 upgrade, so they do not come with the drivers and software for a Windows 8 upgrade.

The list of not compatible models below is for use of the client. The models not included in the compatibility list are also not compatible, even if not included in the list of models not compatible.

A410, A510, A520, P420

Mine is an A520 model.

Let me tell you exactly what happened so I could know that notebook wasn't compatible with the Windows 8 upgrade.

1 - I ran the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant and it did its thing.
2 - Its final report showed only a few incompatible apps but nothing about hardware and other stuff.
3 - I proceeded to do the upgrade from Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 8 Pro.
4 - I paid that promo price (way back) with my credit card and all was OK.
5 - The download/installation started.
6 - The installation process was interrupted with a warning (no details) and the system was reverted back to Windows 7.

With no details from Windows/Microsoft about the issue, I went to LG's website and found the notebook model isn't compatible with the Windows 8 upgrade.

I wonder if it's about some deep level hardware stuff that prevents the upgrade... So I ask if I format the HD and make an installation of Windows 8 Pro from scratch it will do... or some hardware/driver stuff will keep preventing the upgrade to happen?

That is, I wonder if the notebook isn't compatible to the upgrade
only, but it's compatible to make an installation from scratch.
