I have an HP G7 2220 us laptop.I cannot figure out how to use Win8, I want to downgrade to Win7.

I have disabled secure boot and in legacy have the usb drive as boot nuber one boot drive.

I had formatted the disc using Rufus to make a GPT usb boot drive and used a digitalrive Win7+SP1(Media Refresh)iso file.

In the UEFI boot at startup(Esc then F9) I can see the USB drive and when I select it and click Enter this is what comes up:

Windows failed to start recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix problem :

1)Insert windows installation disk and restart pc
2)choose langue settings and click next
3)click repair your pc

How do I go by the installation of Win7.

Please help.Thanks

Take note of Step 11 for Windows 7.
Also you will need to use a USB 2.0 port, as there are no USB 3.0 drivers in Windows 7.

I just read the step 11, trying it right now.Is this what is causing that error that I got?

I did use a USB 2.0 specifically from the start since 3.0 needs drivers and is not natively enabled.

What is CSM and how do I enable it.The post didn't make sense.I have secure boot disabled and legacy support enabled. Is that it?

Is it possible to install Windows 7 on a Windows 8 computer? - Page 7 - Windows 7 Help Forums

I tried the step 11 that theog pointed out and when I looked in my USB the bootx64.efi was in the correct place to begin with.So What do I do now?

The Digital River ISO does not have the file in the right place for use on a USB Pen Drive.

Where do you buy your Windows 7 x64 DVD from?

In Efi I do have have boot and microsoft on mine. And in boot the file bootx64.efi is present.

Win 7>Efi>boot>bootx64.efi

Is this correct?

I have two option in the Bios>System configuration>Boot options.

Secure boot and
Legacy boot.

I am to disable secure boot, when I do that it enables legacy boot.Do I leave legacy boot enabled or disable it?If I disable Legacy Boot the boot order in the Legacy Boot section are greyed out.The UEFI ones remain active for selection even if the Secure Boot Is disabled.

Even if I leave legacy boot enabled and go into the boot options when the laptop starts up(ESC+F9) I can see the UEFI boot options. Is this the right way to go about it?
