Help required recovering windows 8

Hi,

I have a new laptop which had win 8 installed. I created a recovery DVD then downgraded to win 7. During the win 7 install, all disk partitions were wiped. I now want to recover win 8, but when I run the recovery DVD (troubleshoot -> Advanced options -> system image recovery) I get a message saying that "Windows cannot find a system image on this computer". I would hope that a system image was written to the DVD, but I don't know if it was... I don't know what I'm looking for. How can I check? If it does not contain a system image, how can I reinstall win 8?

Many thanks to anyone who can help.
