Solved How will this setup work for me?

Excellent tutorial.I have few questions though.

Currently i have dual boot windows 7 and Ubuntu and i use EasyBCD to choose which OS to boot at laptop startup.Grub of ubuntu is not in control rather windows boot manager is since i installed Grub in same partition as Ubuntu itself.
So i am asking how will this setup work for me if i choose to install windows 8 on a separate partition on my laptop.

Currently i am running windows 8 in virtualbox and its not giving me satisfactory results

Any suggestion will be appreciated.


PS: i am dreamer from sevens forum :D

Nope the only options to add in Easy BCD is windows vista/7 and adding another windows 7,i am not sure how is that supposed to work or will it recognize windows 8 or not

What version of easybcd are you using? Use 2.1 or later. Another thing you can try is to install easybcd on win8 and add the win7 install.

I am currently using version 2.1.

To tell you honestly i am afraid to play with EasyBCD and boot setup too much lest it wreaks havoc on my windows 7.This triple booting with ubuntu is sure a headache for me unless i remove ubuntu and dual boot only 7 and 8.

Another question can i installing windows 8 on an external HDD and boot from only external HDD when i want to play with windows 8 and leave my laptop boot setup as it is??

I believe its possible to install win8 on an external hard drive though I haven't personally tried it out. Google is your friend. Just a word of friendly advice though, don't waste time on this build, the beta is likely around the corner.

Update: Can't install windows 8 on external HDD.It doesn't support installation on drives connected through USB.Thats the error message setup gave when i tried the same
