Hey everyone,

I have been trying to figure this out for a few days now, and I have pretty much given up, so hopefully someone here can help.

I am trying to dual boot my desktop with Win 7 and 8. So I wrote the Win 8 iso to my flash drive, booted up from it. It installed to the partition I made happily, rebooted, and showed the select OS screen. When I clicked the Windows Dev Build option, it pulls up the configuration screen, saying something along the lines of "Getting Devices Ready (some number)%". When it gets to this point, it gets up in the high 70s and 80s, then the screen goes black, the system reboots. At this point it goes through my BIOS stuff, then straight to a black screen. No option to pick an OS or anything.

I have tried this with 2 different downloads of the ISO and the same thing happened. I am trying it on my laptop now to see if it could be my desktop being dumb, but does anyone know what could be causing this?

My set up is just a basic one. One hdd, ASUS motherboard, gtx 560 gfx card. Could it just be the computer? Or did I do something wrong? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me

Thanks, I will try that in a bit, but I am pretty sure now that it isn't my install. I just got it working on my laptop from the same flash drive, so it has to be my desktop :(

Looks like theres some incompatible hardware. Since theres no authentic list yet, best you can do is to unplug any non-essential device and retry.

I used Microsoft’s Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool. No problems encountered. Good luck dude.

I had problems installing via usb boot on my acer aspirer touch all in one pc , try this worked for me, mount the iso onto a virtual drive i used daemon tools go to my computer find new drive, right click, open (do not double click or auto run)next view the sources folder, scroll down open setup, download updates click custom, select the partition you want to install it on, bingo (restarts a few times then done) now when you boot up you will have the option of win 8, roll back or win 7, hope it works for you aswell

If you still have this problem try downloading Virtualbox, and load 8 into that. It seems a great deal of folks have been doing this without to much of a problem. Good Luck.

Also, "Welcome to The Win 8 Forums" it is always nice to new folks drop in...
