    Can't install Windows 8

    Hey everyone!

Wow, I've been gone a long time. I guess college will do that to a person. But with the Windows 8 Developer Preview out, it's time to be on the bleeding edge once again, and my computer is resisting. The OS appears to install just fine, but when I boot into the setup on the hard drive (after it's done with the DVD), it says that the installer cannot configure Windows to work with my computer's hardware, and restarts the system. System specs are as listed.

    Anything jump out at anyone??

Not sure, but it may not like a RAID setup. From what I've read here in the Developer8 threads is good luck is had with a separate physical drive or in a VM, VBox seems to be the choice.

    Windows 8, x64, DP8102 - Win7 Ultimate x64, Dual Boot

I didn't have any problem repartitioning my Win 7 drive to allow a partition for the DP install. I did the same thing prior with the 7989 Win 8 leak. I uninstalled it (the 7989 leak) without issues (reformatted the partition) and then installed Win 8 8102 on the same partition.

I've already "refreshed" it once to get back the Win 8 OS choice screen and everything still works fine.

Although, it did take a while to get back to where I was before the "refresh" just so I could get the Win 8 OS choice screen again after I rearranged the default OS selection in the Troubleshooting options and was left with the old Win 7 OS selection screen on boot up.

I'm not satisfied with Windows 8's performance in VirtualBox, I want to be able to test it where it can take advantage of my full system resources. It seems like a gross oversight to make a public OS release that does not support RAID, but if this is the case, might this be solved by installing/booting Windows 8 on a Virtual Hard Disk (VHD) on the physical machine?

BCXtreme, this is not a public release, it is a Developer release. We should see a huge improvement when the first real Beta, and then the Public Beta are finally released.

This solution worked for me (installing Windows 8 on a VHD and then booting the physical computer from the VHD).

I am aware that it is a developer release. And if I had to guess, I would say RAID setups are more common among developers and power users than among the general public.
