Can you install Windows 8 to its own SSD?

Can you install Windows 8 to its own SSD? That said, install the apps to a HDD? Is this possible? Would there be any advantages to this kind of setup? Would I just notice it in boot up/shut down/navigating through Windows 8? Would app performance benefit at all with its environment being installed on a SSD?

    Hi there
install BOTH OS and APPS on SSD --even a largish windows installation with full adobe suite CS6 (inc Photo shop), Ms office PRO, Visual Studio, MySQL, NERO. Multi-media server, VLC etc occupies less than 60 GB. On an SSD it takes me around 3 SECS from clicking on the CS6 photoshop app to being able to USE it. Apps load almost instantly.

If you install the apps on a separate HDD you lose the advantage of fast load times, plus if the HDD fails you have to re-install the apps again anyway. Having the whole lot on the SSD means you can save / restore / backup / move the entire system plus apps if you need to.

Keep the HDD's for user DATA (multi-media files, photos, documents, file server, email etc etc).
