I have an HP Pavilion dv6t-6100 CTO Quad Edition Entertainment Notebook PC LM720AV with Windows 7 64bit pre-installed. I have the following configuration:

  1. RAM - 6Gb DDR3 (to be upgraded to 8Gb with 4GB x 2 Dimm)
  2. Processor - Intel(R) Core i7-2630QM CPU @ 2.0Ghz (Turbo Boost to 2.9Ghz)
  3. OS - Windows 7 Home Premium (64-Bit)
  4. Storage - 750 GB (available 683Gb)

I would like to clean install Windows 8 64-Bit on this laptop. I have already taken a backup of all my data and application software.

I have the following queries:

  1. I have partitioned my 750GB hard drive into 5 drives. Do I need to delete these partitions prior to installing Windows 8?
  2. I would like to have all the proprietary software like HP CoolSense, HP Recovery Manager, HP Update, HP Connection Manager, HP SimplePass, HP 3D DriveGuard, HP Support Assistant, HP Power Manager, Intel(R) My Wifi Technology, Intel(R) Wireless Display, Intel(R) Control Center, Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology, Intel(R) PROSet Wireless Tools, Intel(R) HD Graphics and Synaptics TouchPad Pointing Device to be installed on Windows 8 as well. Where do I get the downloads for these applications? Do I need to download there drivers beforehand or they shall be installed automatically on Windows 8?
  3. My laptop came with Beats Audio. Should I download drivers its for Windows 8 from before or shall it automatically get downloaded when I complete the clean install of Windows 8?
  4. What additional drivers are required so that my printer HP - 2050 All-In-One Printer works with Windows 8?
  5. My laptop also has 2 additional hard drives created from before namely : (a) RECOVERY (D: ) and (b) HP_TOOLS (F: ). What should I do with these two drives? What purpose do they serve? Will they be available after I install Windows 8?

P.S - I already have the Windows 8 (64 Bit) DVD with me.

I know you might find some of the questions really simple but please help me as I am new to this. Thanking you in advance.

Regards,

HP said:
Please read the following important information before beginning your upgrade:
Not all Windows 8 features are available on all Windows 7 computers. Your computer might require additional hardware, software, firmware, and/or a BIOS upgrade to install and run Windows 8.
HP provides upgrade instructions and drivers for most computers sold after October 1st , 2011.

Check for Software & Drivers on the HP web site.

I would run the

first?

Yes, you can do a clean install:

If you have a Legacy BIOS firmware:
http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/13375-clean-install-windows-8-upgrade.html

If you have a UEFI/ BIOS firmware:

Than do the Refresh part of above tutorial.
