Installation error code: 0x8007000D cannot open D:\sources\install.wim

When attempting a clean install i receive and error after clicking 'Install Now' (step 3). It reads

Windows cannot open the required file D:\sources\install.wim. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x8007000D

I've searched the forums a bit and haven't found any other posts about this error. I've tried installing both the 32 and 64 bit versions, same issue for both. Help please!

Edit: i'm attempting the clean install on my old vista 32bit laptop, not my windows 7 desktop.

Edit #2: when i attempt to run the 32bit setup file while in vista it immediately opens a window that says 'windows installer has stopped working'

This is with the Build 8102 Windows dev Preview download?

What do you have the installation media on...a USB drive, a DVD, etc?

Possible maybe the downloads were corrupt? Try downloading one again and try that one. Or stick on different device USB, DVD, drive, etc..and try.

Also might scan your HDD/SSD you're trying to install it to for any possible defects.

I had the same error code when trying to install WDPx64. It turned out to be a corrupt installation. After I used the windows 7 USB/ Dvd download tool to extract it the ISO to a USB flash drive everything turned out fine. You can get the tool free from the Microsoft Store.
