Windows Media Center Win8Pro Complimentary Upgrade lost

I installed Win8Pro and was given a free complimentary upgrade to Media Center which I added through the "Add Features" function with the serial I was emailed from microsoft. So I had to reinstall Win8Pro from disk because my backup became corrupt and tried to add the feature as I did before and it asked me for the serial and it seemed like it was adding the feature but really just hung the system and now when I try to add the feature it doesn't try to add media center.

Am I stuck reinstalling and when asked for the serial for windows 8 pro I have to use the media center serial i was given from Microsoft?

thanks,

Hello Kenny, and welcome to Eight Forums.

When you reinstall Windows 8 Pro, you would need to enter your Windows 8 Pro product key as usual.

After Windows 8 is finished installing, you would then use Add Features again to add Windows Media Center Pack with the WMC key.

Hope this helps, :)

Ya, I tried that and it sat there forever trying to add the feature. Guess I'll try it again! Cheer to reinstalling the 3rd time. Thank you for your advice.

It didn't work. After trying to add the feature it said, Add Feature.PNG Not sure what's going on?

My experience was a little different.
After obtaining an Email key to WMC, I installed it without a problem.
Like yourself, I reinstalled, first, with a pre WMC image, and secondly, with a new install.
I was able to reinstall the WMC on both occasions but, the OS was no longer activated. I tried the WMC again, and the original OS key. On every attempt, the message was that I had exceeded the maximum (1) for the key.

Use several different computers during a day, so specs are irrelevant.
